Terms of use
Effective 10 October 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and TokChek (“we”) about using TokChek. By using TokChek you accept them. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your data.
Who can use TokChek
You must be 18 or older and able to enter into this agreement. If you use TokChek for an organisation, you confirm that you may accept these terms for it.
Your account
TokChek gives you an account when you first open the app. An account without an email address cannot be recovered once you sign out or lose your phone, so save your sessions to an email address if you want to keep them. You are responsible for what happens in your account.
Recording other people
You decide what to record, and you are responsible for having the right to record it. Tell the people you record before you start, get their consent where the law requires it, and follow the recording laws where you are. Don’t record private conversations without the consent of the people in them.
What results mean
- A result describes what the sources TokChek found said about a claim when it was checked. Sources can be incomplete, out of date or wrong, and so can TokChek’s reading of them and of what was said.
- “Not enough evidence” is not the same as false, and a result never judges whether someone meant to deceive.
- Check the sources behind a result before relying on it, and don’t present a result as proof that someone lied.
- Don’t use TokChek as the only basis for a decision with legal, medical, financial or safety consequences.
If you think a result is wrong, use “Report a problem with this result” in the app. Corrected results keep their earlier versions visible.
Using TokChek fairly
Don’t use TokChek to break the law, to harass, threaten or impersonate anyone, or to publish someone’s private information. Don’t interfere with the service, try to get into accounts or data that aren’t yours, or copy the service or its results in bulk by automated means.
Your content
Your recordings and what you type in TokChek stay yours. You allow us to store and process them, including through the service providers named in our privacy policy, only to run TokChek for you, to keep its records traceable and to keep it secure. You can delete them at any time; the privacy policy explains what happens then.
Sources and other people’s content
Results quote short passages from public sources and link to them, so you can check them. Those sources belong to their owners. Their content is their responsibility, and their own terms apply when you visit them.
Changes to TokChek
TokChek is free to use today. We may change or stop features, and we may offer paid plans later; we will never charge you without asking first. If we stop TokChek altogether, we will tell you in advance so you can keep what you need.
Our responsibility
We work to keep TokChek accurate, available and secure, but we provide it as it is, without promising that it will always be available, complete or free of errors. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us for TokChek in the 12 months before the claim, or ₹1,000 if you paid nothing. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit.
Ending
You can stop using TokChek and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and we will tell you why unless the law or someone’s safety prevents it.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India. If a dispute cannot be settled by talking to us first at privacy@tokchek.com, the courts of India have jurisdiction.
Changes to these terms
When we change these terms, we update this page and its date. If a change matters to how you use TokChek, we tell you in the app before it takes effect.
