Privacy policy

Effective 10 October 2026

TokChek listens to a discussion you choose to record, writes down what is said and checks factual claims against public sources. This policy explains what TokChek collects, why, who processes it for us, how long we keep it and how you can delete it.

TokChek (“we”) provides the TokChek app and this website. For any question or complaint about your personal data, write to privacy@tokchek.com.

What we collect

Your account

When you first open the app, we create an account for you without your name or email address, so that your sessions belong to you. If you choose to save your sessions to an email address or sign in with one, we keep that address. We also keep your settings, such as the meter colours you chose.

Your sessions

When you record a session, we keep:

  • the audio of the session;
  • the transcript, split into lines and speakers, who are labelled Speaker 1, Speaker 2 and so on unless you name them;
  • the statements and claims found in it, the sources checked, and every version of every result;
  • what you enter: the session’s title, country and languages, names to listen for, speaker names, marks and problem reports.

The people you record

A session holds the voices and words of everyone who speaks in it. TokChek does not recognise people by their voice: speaker labels only tell voices apart within one session, and nobody is identified unless you type their name.

Technical data

Your app version and type of device, and the IP address and times of your connections to our servers and our providers’ servers. We use them to run TokChek, keep it secure and fix problems.

We don’t sell personal data, we don’t show ads, and we don’t build profiles of you for anyone.

How we use it

  • To provide TokChek: to transcribe the audio, find the claims in it, search for and read sources, reach results and show them to you.
  • To keep a record: every result keeps its sources and its earlier versions, so it can be traced and corrected.
  • To keep TokChek working and secure, for example to find errors and stop abuse.
  • To reply when you contact us.

We process your data because you choose to use TokChek and to record sessions. You can withdraw at any time by deleting sessions or your account.

Who processes it for us

These service providers process data for us, to provide their service to TokChek:

  • Supabase stores your account, sessions and recordings, in Singapore.
  • Fly.io runs the live service your app streams to, in Singapore.
  • Smallest AI and Sarvam AI turn the audio of your sessions into text.
  • Anthropic, Groq, OpenAI and Google receive the text of statements, not the audio, to sort them and to weigh the sources found for each claim.
  • Exa, Tavily, Brave, Firecrawl and Jina receive search queries and web addresses based on the claims, not who you are, to find and read sources.
  • Resend sends sign-in codes to your email address.

Your data is stored and processed outside India: in Singapore, and by some of these providers in the United States. We use their business services, and they do not use their business customers’ content to train their models, with one exception while TokChek is new: it uses Google’s free Gemini service, under which Google may use the statement text it receives to improve its products, and people at Google may read it. Google never receives your audio.

How long we keep it

  • Sessions, with their audio, transcript, claims and results: until you delete the session or your account.
  • Your account, email address and settings: until you delete your account.
  • Web pages read while checking a claim: the short passages quoted as evidence stay with the results they support. The full text of a page is kept for up to 30 days, so a check can be repeated, and then deleted.
  • Technical logs are kept by us and our providers for a short time, usually days, to run and secure the service.

When you delete a session or your account, it is removed from our database and file storage at once. Copies in our database provider’s backups are replaced within 7 days. We keep a note that a deletion happened, with its date but not what was deleted.

Your choices and rights

  • Delete a session at the end of its report in the app.
  • Delete your account with all its sessions in the app, under Settings, Delete account. If your account has an email address, you can also do it on our account deletion page, without the app.
  • See, correct or complete your data. Most of it is in the app. For anything else, write to privacy@tokchek.com.
  • Name someone who may exercise these rights for you if you die or cannot act yourself, by writing to us.
  • Complain. Write to privacy@tokchek.com and we will reply within the time the law sets. If you are not satisfied with our reply, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

Recording other people

You decide what to record. Tell everyone you record before you start, and follow the recording laws where you are. If someone recorded you with TokChek and you want that recording deleted, write to privacy@tokchek.com with what you know about the session. We will act on it with the session’s owner, and we never show you another person’s sessions.

Children

TokChek is for people aged 18 or older. If we learn that an account belongs to someone younger, we delete it.

Security

Data is encrypted between your phone and our servers, and stored encrypted by our providers. A session can only be read by its owner, unless they share it, and our servers’ credentials never leave our servers.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we update this page and its date. If a change matters to how your data is used, we also tell you in the app before it takes effect.
